ENERGIZE THE COMMUNITY
Can’t find your friends? Is the battery too low to top up your wristband?
Using festival insights and relatable music festival moments, we created tools for Lollapalooza attendees
to recharge their lost energy. Paypal empowered their community in a natural, tangible way. Festival goers interacted
with a revitalization station to discover the untapped energy inside PayPal that helps you enjoy the Lollapalooza weekend.
CONCEPT
We used the festival to show consumers what the PayPal
brand experience feels like in real life by championing possibilities for everyone.
We connect you.
We give you time to enjoy your moments.
We energize you.
PayPal it your way.
Everywhere you go, everything you do: PayPal is the invisible connection for your whole festival experience.
PayPal do the hard work, so you can forget everything: all you have to do is have fun and enjoy yourself.
MY ROLE
As the Creative director, I was the creative lead for Scholz and Friends client PayPal DE.
I managed the creative team to create, plan and deliver a strategic vision for PayPal’s Lollapalooza partnership.
Taking the responsibility to maintain a cohesive visual and thematic style for this project.
The main goal was that the experience should feel like part of the 2022 PayPal it your way campaign. I supervised the
creative process, guiding the team to find brilliant festival insights through to final executions.
THE VISUAL WORLD
The visual anchor is PayPal’s expressive lines - these would denote energy.
The lines follow an illustrative person (just surface) while dancing,
buying a beverage, and enjoying the festival moments at Lollapalooza.
Together with some entertaining headlines, we created
a very modern and unique brand activation – not only on the festival
ground but also on social media (pre and post the event)
CHARGING THE WRISTBAND
”Congratulations. You’re going to Lollapalooza” All festival goers received a wireless payment band once their tickets were purchased.
We created media that would give direct instructions on how to apply credit before and during the festival.
We created an instructional video and social media content using the PayPal it your way style.
ENERGIZING THE COMMUNITY - IN PERSON
How do we keep festival-goers energy going in a PayPal way? We created revitalisation stations. Our stations
were the key to a successful Lollapalooza. Something that would keep. your energy topped up - both your phone and wristband.
The revitalisation station is where festival-goers could charge their devices, their wristband and also a wayfinding balloon.
The station was free to use and allowed PayPal a seamless point of experience for its customers.
